Le Brunch at Le Bun

In keeping with the foodie theme, Saturday was spent discovering a new London gem. Miss S got the gang together for some Le Brunch at Le Bun!

We visited the New Street Grill location, tucked away a stones-throw from Liverpool Street station, where the street-food success story is running a residency there on the weekends!

The style is 'luxury French-American' which translates to diner vibes in a sophisticated setting, and a menu that pokes fun at and mixes up deliciousness from both worlds.

Naturally, we kicked off with some brunch-appropriate cocktails... The Espresso Martini being an obvious first choice!

As usual with the whole lactose issue, the quality of the soya-lattes weigh heavily on the final points... And am happy to report, top marks all around! #coffeeoverdoserisk

With the caffeine situation settled, it was menu browsing time... And there was a LOT of temptation to choose from!

Still somewhat of a newbie on the block, the bun-team has been building a solid fan base after winning the food category of Sky 1's Launching People.... They've been doing the street food thing very well, and working multiple residencies across town while perfecting the French meets American diner fusion.

With so many choices, I still somehow managed to end up going 'classic' with Le Eggs Royale (Marriage Freres smoked salmon, spinach, poached egg and hollandaise), and it definitely blew my mind a little bit. It usually comes on a brioche bun, but again... Lactose issues meant limited range for being adventurous (took my gamble on the Hollandaise instead, which definitely paid off).

Miss A trialled the Duck Frites... Which is basically a mouthgasm of pulled duck, straw frites, bearnaise spread, duck sauce, and champagne slaw. Ridiculously scrumptious results!

But taking it one step further... A breakfast for Champignons (aaaaah, we see what you did there). Mushyrooms, maple lardons, egg and general yumminess.

And to top it off, the Bisque Mac - yum!

Each section of the Grill has a slightly different vibe. The bar features board games and cigar sales, and the heated patio is the perfect place for a second coffee (or cocktail) while the food-coma settles.

All in all a lovely way to spend the Saturday - friends, food and even a mulled wine cocktail!

(And as a little side note... While Le Bun has been working a number of residencies after the summer of street-food success they're going to be headlining their own Kingston local from Friday 6th December. Get involved!)
